Autumn is a time when we crank up the heat and the humidity outside turns itself waaaaay down. This can and probably should change your skincare routine. TA has some at-home DIY facial treatments you can give yourself.
First, start off with freshly washed skin, using a gentle exfoliant. This first treatment is an Herbal Facial Steam. If you don't have a facial steamer at home, you can carefully pour some boiling water into a bowl and then hover your face about 10-15 inches over the bowl with a towel over your head. Add one tablespoon of fresh or dried rosemary and a teaspoon of cloves. Breathe in the steam, allow it to soak into your pores. This is useful for clearing your pores, hydrating your skin, and releasing oils and other impurities that cause acne.
Next, we have a Firming Pumpkin Spice Facial Scrub.
1 cup brown sugar (the finer the better)
½ cup rosehip oil
½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
½ teaspoon vitamin e oil or oil from few vitamin e capsules
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Apply to clean skin using your ring and pinky fingertips and warm water. Gently move the scrub around your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Once you’ve done a few rotations over your face, rinse with warm water. Remember, the lighter the pressure the better.
Finally, try the Vitamin C Cranberry Facial Mask.
A handful of fresh cranberries (7-9 should be plenty)
1 teaspoon organic maple syrup
1 teaspoon plain organic yogurt
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Apply with fingertips to face and neck, leave on for 15 minutes before washing off with warm water. Follow with moisturizer or serum.
